Something I’m eating is making me sick.
It clogs my nose. My throat gets thick.
Could it be ice cream, milk and cheese?
Does dairy create my wheeze and sneeze?
Something I’m eating is stopping me up.
My innards are blocked in a poop pileup.
Could it be chocolate, creamy and sweet?
I hope it’s not chocolate I should not eat!
Something I’m eating is making me bloat.
Could it be food with a high fructose coat?
Candy bars, soft drinks, cereal and such –
I think I’m bingeing on way to much!
Something I’m eating is keeping me plump.
Could it be flour that sticks to my rump?
Do cakes and cookies and fluffy white bread
keep those pounds from being shed?
Something I’m eating is causing this grief.
I must stop this cycle to get some relief.
I’ll start to eat right and I won’t eat too quick,
so next time I’m dining I will not get sick!

Great post!
Thank you Lisa! I had a lot of fun writing it.
Refreshing! Got me a big smile
This poem was inspired as I drove home from work in the fall of 2013. I was contemplating my health and said out loud, “something I’m eating is making me sick!” The words begged to be rhymed, so I added “what could it be that makes me feel ick!” When I got home I wrote four cheesy verses. I ran across the poem in 2015 and worked on it to come up the “much improved” version I posted here. It was a lot of fun to write and I eat much better now, too!
